Foreclosure Bargains An Oxymoron

Charleston, AZ Abandoned Town but not vandelized by those who lived there

I was glad to see the Arizona Daily Star providing some valuable information on Foreclosure properties instead of the sensationalize headlines that often accompany the word foreclosure. “Foreclosure bargains aren’t a snap” does a good job of showing the many pitfalls that can beset a bargain hunter when it comes to foreclosed properties.

Arizona Daily Star Using Zillow For Reporting Source

Zillow Based Map for Tucson

I opened the “Arizona Daily Star” yesterday and I couldn’t believe what I was reading. A third of Tucson homes sold last year went for losses as foreclosures continued to drive down values in Southern Arizona, Seattle-based Zillow.com reported Tuesday Zillow being used as an authoritative data source is like using a quija board to predict the future.

Tucson Going Green Will There be a Newspaper in Town

This past weekend the Arizona Daily Star removed a lot of content it publishes on a daily basis sighting a downturn in the economy. The business section has been included in the main section of the paper. The Accent is gone. Comics, Gone. Dear Abby, Gone.

It’s not a bailout it is the Emergency Economic Stability Act
I never prefer the media spin on what is going on, period. The selling of the Emergency Economic Stability Act as some kind of fat cat bailout is just one example. There are plenty of negative opinions to be found everywhere about this [...]

Feds Fuel Fannie and Freddie

Chalk it up to family and move on

The Four F’s for Today
Yes, the BIG NEWS! for the economy and the housing industry is the take over of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. I hesitate to use the word “takeover” but it almost seems appropriate.
No one really knows what this means yet. In the Sunday Business section of the Arizona Daily [...]

Tucson Foreclosures Short Sale REO Bank Owned July 2008

Arizona Daily Star Foreclosure Headline

There they are;  all the buzz words of Real Estate these days.  After seeing the headline “Foreclosures more than double here” in the Saturday, July 27, 2008 Arizona Daily Star I decided I wanted to see for myself where all this stacks up in the Tucson MLS system.
According to an aside on the front page [...]

Tucson Monsoon Rain

The Tucson Monsoon season is just 10 days away (now that we have an official start date of June 15, 2008). This yearly period in nature brings about a renewed interest in Rain Water Harvesting.

Winter Weather Returns to Tucson this weekend

Winter Weather Clouds

Winter weather? Well winter weather here means anything between 50 and 80 degrees. But, it is unseasonably cold this weekend. We woke up in the low 50’s and it is only 66 degrees outside as I write this. If I wanted to sensationalize the weather the way the media does the [...]

Arizona Daily Star Throwing Thorns at Real Estate Agents

cactus thorns

Open the paper this morning to more of the typical kind of reporting we see every week. Seems there have been some sales price declines in the first quarter of this year. Tucson down 2.9 percent, meaning we have lost some of the nearly 80% run up in valuation since 2004. This [...]

Tucson When A Bad Omen Isn’t So Bad

AZ Foreclosures

I don’t usually write about foreclosures or rates of foreclosure. But I want to address the article that topped the business section of this mornings “Arizona Daily Star”.
