A Dinosaur in The Driveway

tucson pagesI opened the garage door yesterday and almost tripped over a dinosaur.  I find them on the front step this time of year.  They come in a variety of colors and different words on the front but the size shape and weight almost always is the same.

I’ve take two of them from the walk to the recycle bin in the past few weeks.  This one was a little different.  Not exactly Yellow Pages but similar in function.  Designed in sections with one labeled “Coupons”  I at least opened the front cover but didn’t breath deep enough to get the cheap high from the ink not yet dried on the pages.  (Maybe I’ll open it again after I finish writing this, NOT).

It had a long live than most, I kept it out of recycle long enough to take this picture and check the coupon section.   I turned to the index in the front of the coupon section to see what business had coupons.  As I went through the list of restaurants and pizza places the thought struck me.

“I’ve never heard of most of these places”  Maybe, just maybe advertising in a dinosaur isn’t a good idea.  I get the idea that business is so bad they advertise in the dinosaur which in turn leads me to believe that if business is bad enough to be in the dinosaur then I probably don’t want to shop, eat or call even if there is a coupon.

Dinosaurs make good door stops, but does anyone even use door stops anymore or have they gone the way of the dinosaur.
