Cold Winter Evening in Tucson, Arizona
January 11, 2009 It is a winter day in Tucson. It was early this morning we we woke up in Phoenix because we were taking World Traveler to Sky Harbor airport to fly back to Minneapolis for her second semester as a Gold Gopher.
She has been doing quite well in the Minnesota winter weather. But today, today she wasn’t quite ready to go back to the snow and near zero temperatures.
This isn’t one of those rub it in because the weather is always warm and great in Tucson. : ) It could be that, but I won’t go there. Just the opposite. There are times when it does get cold here. Not freezing your buns near zero, or below cold, but cold enough to freeze water. Cold enough to make snow. Even cold enough that if you are here on vacation and unfortuante you might be here when the highs are in the 50’s and the lows are in the 20’s.
Again, by standards of many parts of the country, this isn’t cold at all. And that is why so many people come to the Desert Southwest for the winter. On a cold day you can still wear shorts. I wouldn’t recommend it, but you can do it.
