Our Fallen Angel from christmas tree

Our Fallen Angel

It is Sunday night and the pasta rustica is simmering on the stove.  The gnocchi (potato dumplings) are hand made and ready to be cooked. The cheese if grated and ready and there is a delicate wine to be served with the meal.

This weekend we have seen a lot of Christmas Trees in the back of trucks and on the top of SUV on their way to be recycled.

There are quite a few Christmas Trees still in living rooms all over town.  World Traveler is home for the holidays and the tree is central to a lot of fond memories of Christmas past.  Our Christmas tree shall remain up and lite nightly till it is time for her to return to her college studies.

Check The Tree for Brittleness

Once Christmas is over and New Years Day has come and gone it is easy to forget to add water to the tree.  It is still up and the lights are still adoring the living room nightly in many homes across Tucson and Oro Valley.

Please don’t forget to water the tree if it is still being lite.

I’ll say this again.  “PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO WATER THE TREE IF IT IS STILL BEING LITE”

If you bend the tips of the tree and they break in your hand, DON’T TURN ON THE LIGHTS.

You don’t want to start off the new year looking for a place to live because the Christmas Tree caught fire.

I’ve seen these trees burn.  Unless you have witnessed this first hand you can’t believe how quickly they become a blazing inferno.  There is no time to put it out, not time to think about where the fire extinguisher is or how to use it.

As for our little fallen angel.  I heard a screech coming from the living room the night we decorated the tree.  Our angel that had adorned the top of the tree for many past years suddenly became dizzy and lost her place on top of the tree.  World Traveler was the source of the sound.  Fallen Angel lie on the floor still lite but not herself.  I grabbed the camera to document her fall, but not her fall from grace.  She was our casualty of Christmas.  Our Only Casualty of Christmas.

Please, please check your Christmas Tree if it is still being lite and in the house.

Have a safe end to your weekend and the beginning of our first work week of 2009.

The pasta rustica and gnocchi are calling from the kitchen.

Hi! Thanks for the info about Christmas trees being caught on fire. I also love to adorn my Christmas tree with lots of lights but I’m also vigilant when it comes to safety. I also had an angel casualty last Christmas and it was because of my dog.

    Jennifer,

Sorry you lost an angel as well. Hope the dog is ok. : )

Love lots of lights on the tree.

    Have a great week.
