DigaPixBlog Submit Your Photos
Have you seen this avatar showing up from time to time in the left hand navigation under MyBlogLog. It belongs to a new friend of mine. He is in the process of moving to Tucson. I met Jim first as a commenter on this blog and then in person. He is a great guy and shot professionally as a Photographer for many years. I didn’t know it at the time of our meeting, I”m glad I didn’t I’m sure I would have found it intimidating.
One of the things that was going to be hard for him and his wife to give up was their involvement in a local camera club. Jim and I talked quite a bit that first day we met. Out of those conversations and Jim’s inventiveness came his idea to create a blog where people could submit their images and Jim would critique them and add positive comments, which was very similar to what he had done as a judge for the camera club.
Jim began reading and within a week he had purchased his domain name, bought his hosting package, chosen a theme and began critiquing images. I never planned on submitting any images. I was excited about the project because, as I’m often called these days, I’m a geek! I like setting up blogs and helping new bloggers get started.
My initial idea was to submit a couple of images to get the blog started and figured many of the people from the FStop camera club would soon find the blog and begin submitting images of their own. I didn’t realize then how much I was going to learn from submitting images for review and critique. I’ve learned a lot in these first three weeks of the existence of the Digapixblog.
If you want to learn more about your photography and take it to the next level, whatever level that is, I would recommend checking out Jim’s blog and submitting an image for review. I think you will be surprised how much you will learn. I speak from experience, the more images you submit, the more you will learn and the better photographer you will become.
Oh, I would never submit the image to the right. Here is a hint, Jim isn’t too fond of flowers, animals, and rainbows. You can throw in sunsets there as well.
This doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t submit these subjects for review. . . just be prepared.
Come to think of it, I might have submitted this earlier today, then I heard Jim’s voice in my head saying, “Hum, a flower, okay, but the background is distracting, you should clean this image up and make the subject, the subject and get rid of all the other stuff. And that dangling pedal, get rid of it too.” You can click the image to see it larger and the dangling pedal must have fallen off.

Thanks for the review.
Now let me tell you what I like and don’t like about this shot………
Also thank you for all your help setting up DigaPixBlog I may not have done it without you.
Jim,
You are so wellcome, I’m glad I could help the Doc give birth to his bouncing baby photo blog.
Extremely excited! Thanks for helping make this possible. Having had the opportunity to have been in the photo club with Jim I have learned more than I ever could have imagined. Correction however jim does like animals, and flowers, as long as you are showing it in a way that hasn’t been seen before. He pushes you to see things in a different and creative way. But you had better be ready to take on a real critique! He has always said it is just his opinion but I rarely find that he is wrong. And enjoy his honesty and warm heart.
