Elizabeth is alive today because someone donated their blood. She stays Alive because you keep donating.
Be a hero, donate blood.
At the Extreme Home Makeover event at the Fox Theater we received bags with bottles of water and snacks to be given to someone to donate blood. If we couldn’t we were asked to give the bag to someone that could. I’m in that category of those who’s blood is (too sweat) to donate. Along with the bag was this picture of Lizzie.
On the back of the card was the following information about blood drives and other events coming up. This little hero is tireless in her efforts and didn’t miss an opportunity to keep the momentum rolling for blood and toy donations.
2009 Event Dates
March 26: Michelle Grenier Blood Drive on UA Campus, Santa Rita Room.
June 14: Lizzie Bell Blood Drive and World Donor Day.
Location: to be announced (when I know I’ll fill this in)
September (all month long) Alma Chandler, Arizona’s 2x Judo Champion, platelet drive at Kolb and Broadway.
November 26: Sean Coleman Drive at Mayfield Florist on Tanque Verde.

Hey Lizzie!
I’m 19 years old and live in Florida. I watched the Extreme Makeover Home Edition of your family and I was inspired! I gave blood last year for the first time at my college and I was pretty scared… But once I did it I felt accomplished, and now I will always know that I helped save a life. I found out that I was A Positive and even though it’s not a rare blood type, many people still need it. So in the future you may see my name on a pint of blood you are receiving. That makes me feel like I’m actually living my life right!
Keep up your good work and you will always be in my prayers!

Just cught the episode which features the Lizzie Bell Blood Drive. All I can say is “Thank You’ from the bottom of my heart. The donating of blood ( whole, platlets, apheresis, double reds, whatever) is one of the few things left in this world in to which I whole heartedly subscribe. As you stated in the program only about 1 in 20 ever donate (and many never to be seen again), and then one has to consider only 40% of the population is even eligable. I donate at least 6 times a year (sometimes more when considering the calander or apheresis donations) whether it be through the Red Cross of INOVA (regional). So much for me… but why I am writing is that you collected over 11,000 units of blood. That is more than incredible (my eyes are misty as I write). Not since 911 have I even heard of such an outpouring. Please do not stop here. Educate the public and continue this totally life saving endeavor. This may be the most direct way of helping to save lives in which each of us are able to participate. Once again 11,000 units! Incredible! Please, let’s continue!
Sincerely,
Randy Causey
