Oreganos Pizza Bistro

Oregano's Pizza Bistro

We celebrated a rite of passage with World Traveler last night.  Her choice of eateries was Oregano’s Pizza Bistro.  I had never heard of the place, but that’s not unusual for me.  I like the place as soon as we pulled up and there was a small red car sitting on top of the building.
(See Disclaimer at the bottom*)

When we got there quite a few people were already waiting outside.  Thankfully there is a covered patio and over head heaters.  The girls found a nice seat (directly under a heater).  I pulled out my Lumix TZ5 point and shot and started snapping away to kill the time.

It was already after dark and I don’t use flash.  So I was a bit amazed at the images I was getting since they were being shot at 1/4 of a second.  In my youth I could hold a camera pretty steady for even a 1 sec. shutter speed, but those days have long since past (as they say, although  I think most of those they people are already dead and gone).

The wait over outside we were escorted through the front door and back in time.  Back to the 50’s.  Back to Fred and Ginger on TV;  Red Skelton doing a sketch with Vincent Price and singing commercials about Pet Evaporated Milk and the protein power of Pet Instant Milk (anybody remember what chalk tastes like?)  The TV’s were in black and white and there were even lines on the screen like we used to get when a tube was about to go out.

The seats were so deep I thought I would need a pull just to get out.  I thought about staying put and ordering another pizza. But that wasn’t an option either (no room for it)

Oh, the pizza, it was/is fantastic.  The prices were really reasonable.  But for me, it was the atmosphere of the place.  I kept looking around the place finding more things from my youth that I hadn’t seen or thought of in years.

If you are looking for a place to go this weekend and you have a hunger for pizza I suggest you give Oregano’s a try.  It is located at 4900 Speedway.  I know once World Traveler is back in MN we will venture there again.

*I don’t do product reviews, endorsements or restaurant reviews. I do share good to great things when I discover them. I have only lived in Tucson for about 10 years and there is a lot yet for me to discover. I never write a post because someone asked me to do so. I never write a post because some one paid me to do so. I get both types of requests all the time. It is my policy to only write from my personal experience and observations when it comes to life in Tucson.  I share what I think others might enjoy or find interesting.

A couple more.
