End of the Rainbow Brings Abundance of Wildflowers

Winter Rainbows bring Spring Wildflowers
There is one main ingredient to a Great Wildflower season. It is RAIN. The more rain we get in the winter and early spring the better the wildflower season.
Last spring we had the best season in 10 years. This according to many who have lived here for decades. I heard from a few observers they hadn’t seen that many wildflowers in 30 years.
It has been raining here most of the weekend and is supposed to rain on Monday and Tuesday as well.
We have had a lot of rain in the past couple of months. Every time it rains I get my hopes up for a good spring wildflower season.
With all the rain we have had in the past three weeks, my hopes have changed, now I’m hoping for an AMAZING WILDFLOWER SEASON.
Last spring, I was walking the the desert almost every day. Everywhere I looked there were wildflowers. I was pulling off to the side of the road so often it was hard to get anywhere I needed to go. Even on Ina road just South of Oracle there were some thorny poppies that kept calling me to stop and take their picture.

We want to come visit Tucson the week of March 23 to see the flowers. Too late?
Where exactly would we go for the best displays? How can we track the season’s blooms?

@Linda – Not too late, it should be perfect. Maybe even a little early but we will know better as the date approaches.
There are wildflowers everywhere. You will be early for some of them but there will be plenty to see. Picacho peak is good for poppies but driving around is the best way to bump into them.
