ShopDiscover Be Cautious Where You Login

ShopDiscover but do it safely
This weekend I got a letter in the mail from Discover Card letting me know I could save from 5 - 20% when I log into ShopDiscover. The URL provided in the letter was Discover.com/shop When I went to the site it provided information about ShopDiscover but in order to begin shopping I needed to log in so credit could be given to my account for the cashback bonus.
The red flag went up when I noticed the Discover.com/shop URL WASN’T SECURE.
Https vs Http
Whenever logging into any kind of financial account I check to be sure it is a secure web server. In this case I think it might be an oversite by Discover Card to have clients logging into their accounts on a non secure webserver.
How to Secure Login to ShopDiscover
The best way to use ShopDiscover is to log into your account the way you do to make an online payment. Once you have logged into your account there is an option to ShopDiscover. It takes you to a secure URL.
I don’t usually take advantage of these kinds of offers. I do like the cashback bonus. Maybe you will find some real holiday bargins. If you do make sure you are logged in on a secure webserver before you provide credit card information. Even if it is your credit card company.
