Smelling a Cactus Bloom

Be careful trying to get a sniff

This might look large on the screen. But this cactus flower is about the size of the end of your little finger. It measures about 1/2 inch across.

Those thorns migh be small but you can see you don’t get you nose to close to these. Smelling a cactus bloom is a tricky thing to do. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I’ve never tried using a straw, but I might.   If you look at this image up close (click on it) you will see there are a couple thorns right where you might get a good jab in the proboscis.
