The Middle of the Week

I can’t believe the 13 Day of Christmas started today.

When you have a career that is all your own and you pretty much set the schedule you love the freedom; or so you think.   One thing about a career in real estate, we give up the concept of “A Weekend”.   It is always the middle of the week.   There is not start to the week, or end to the week there is always more week coming or more week that just seemed to slip past you so quickly you can’t believe what day of the week it is.

Sometimes I go by a system called “Fat Paper Day”.   I know when the fat paper is in the drive way it is Sunday.   We sometimes joke about not knowing what day of the week it is, and tell each other “Well, I know it ends in day, I just don’t know what goes in front of it.”   till fat paper day.   That always resets the week, at least as far as keeping track of what day it is.

Today was/is Friday for much of the world.   For me today was write a couple of blog posts, not for here unfortunately, answer some of the 100 emails that came through my inbox.   Write a brief email to the Arizona Daily Star cartoonist.   Listen to the manager/owner at the new McDonald’s dealing with the heating and cooling guys on why it was cold enough to make snow inside a brand new building. Spending some time going over the Tucson MLS Statistics report for a blog post and research.   Yeah, I have to do a lot of research which is time consuming. But I won’t bore you with what I found out today about dung beetles.

By mid morning it was getting ready to view some commercial buildings for a client, which never happened, at least not today; then previewing of homes for clients tomorrow, which is the middle of the week, right?   After the previewing was complete we headed to Zinburger, yes we do eat there a lot. Finally, a trip up the hill to La Encantada Mall for the snowfall in the mall.

It is soap bubbles but they look like snow till you get one on your tongue or in your eye, then they are soap bubbles.   But they look like snow and when it is in the 50′s like it was two weeks ago, it feels like a winter evening.   Tonight it was 73 degrees and even with a winter coat on it didn’t feel like winter, but it still looked like snow, almost.

Now it is time I should be writing for tomorrow because we will be out with clients all day, but instead I’m writing this for today which is almost over and for many of you the start of “the Weekend”.

Honest, I’m not complaining, there have been very few times in my life when there was a weekend.   Being in ministry for over 30 years meant never having a weekend and being on call 24/7.   Hey, that’s a lot like being in real estate. NOT! Oh, well like mom always used to say “Tomorrow never comes, when it gets here its today.”

I like to close email with “Have a Great Weekend”   It seems fitting to close this post with the same, “Have a Great Weekend” I hope you do.
