Things to Do in Tucson October 10 – 12 2008

Here are a few of the activities around town this weekend you might want to consider attending. The weather is going to be cool and rainy. Sounds like a typical fall weekend most places in the country.

Tucson Home and Garden Show Sticker

Home and Garden Show

All of us getting the Arizona Daily Star were greeted with this sticker about the Home and Garden Show this weekend. There is a mini rebellion by subscribers against these annoying stickers on their newspapers. Some state they will not attend any event advertised using a sticker on their morning paper. I’m not sure if the $2 bucks off will entice them or not.

Desert Thunder Rodeo

You can check out the details of the Desert Thunder Rodeo 2008 at this post.

Mount Lemmon Oktoberfest

This is the last weekend for the Oktoberfest celebrations on Mt. Lemmon. Bring a coat, it could be wet and cold. Perfect for eating brats.

The Patagonia Fall Festival

Somewhere around 15,000 people roll into Patagonia typically for this annual celebration. Patagonia is now an artist community and there will be booths, live music, great food and carnival rides for the kids (We can ride too, just look small). The festivities are free and center around the Patagonia Town Park.

Patagonia is located about 60 miles southeast of Tucson. For more information call: 888.794.0060 or visit their website at www.patagoniaaz.com

The Tucson Film and Music Festival

Hope you found something here to peak your interest. Some people will be costume hunting this weekend at the various Halloween shops that open this time of year. A favorite place for many to shop is at the shops on 6th Ave. where the streetcars run. There are some great shops with clothing from all periods to purchase for great authentic costumes.

Upcoming Events in Tucson

Here are a couple of upcoming events you can put on your calendar.

The Tucson Celtic Festival and Scottish Highland Games Oct. 31 – Nov. 2

Arts in the Park (Oro Valley) Nov. 1-2

Tucson Firefighters Chili Cook-Off Nov. 7

There are always lots of things to do around Tucson. We might have to look a little harder than in other places, but they are here. A Trip to the Reid Park Zoo is always a fun trip as well
