Are the Tucson Blue Palo Verde making you feel blue or are you just seeing yellow.
I thought I was seeing yellow early this year; after a little research it appears yes, the Blue Palo Verde usually bloom in May and June. I’ve been seeing them for the past two weeks and feeling the results of all those blooms for about the same amount of time.
Lots of sneezing and runny noses are around town when the Blue Palo Verde bloom. I know some of you will be wondering about the name. You are familiar with them being called just Palo Verde. Verde means “green” and they do have a very green bark. So why are they call Blue? Don’t ask me, just seems like the thing to do I guess, Blue in English Green in Spanish and all of it in Tucson.
There is a Foothills Palo Verde that will bloom usually a couple of weeks after the Blue Palo Verde and many of the Blue are in full bloom right now and I’m seeing some dropping their flowers already which is a relief to many allergy sufferers.
Blue Palo Verde have you seeing Yellow
Even with the on set of the runny nose and very watery itchy eyes I love this time of year when you see Yellow everywhere. Some days it is like the sky is raining yellow as the season draws to an end. It is the Arizona opposite of fall colors every where else.
