Yes, you heard it here, there is a butterfly festival in Tucson and it doesn’t mean we all get together and share our favorite recipes for butterflies, or have butterfly tastings.
Did you know there are over 250 species of butterflies in the Sonoran Desert?
On September 29th and 30th is the Tucson Butterfly Festival. It is held at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. The museum’s garden is specifically planted to attract butterflies.
There will be guided walking tours and lectures. For the kids there are crafts to make and plants which can be purchased and brought home to make your very own butterfly garden.
The Sonoran Desert Museum is located at 2021 N. Kinney Rd. Admission is $9 for adults and $2 for ages 6-12. You can get more information by calling 883-2702 or online at www.desertmuseum.org
The Black on is the Common Checkered-Skipper the other is a Queen.
