See Update At: Tucson Celtic Festival And Scottish Highland Games 2009
It’s that time of year when you can smell haggis on the wind and see old men with trusses putting on their kilt and heading for the 21st Annual Scottish Highland Games being held at the Tucson Celtic Festival.
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, then grab you colors, kilt and bagpipes and head over to Rillito Park at First and River.
The official kick-off of the festival is Friday night and from what I’ve read it is the night to be there if you really want to experience the atmosphere of Highland Games and Celtic Culture.
Great Food, Great Music, Great evening of entertainment.
The throwing of Stones called stones and 18 foot Poles called Cabers is probably what most often comes to mind. But the great music and food should be what really set the mood of a Highland Festival.
The official website is http://www.tucsoncelticfestival.org This is one of the best event oriented website I’ve found in Tucson. If the festival is as organized at the website and Poster this is going to be a great cultural event.
Here are the dates and times for the events:
Friday Evening, Nov. 2, 6:30pm-10:00pm.
Saturday, Nov. 3, 9:00am-5:00pm.
Sunday, Nov. 4, 9:00am-5:00pm.
You can get detailed information about the festival and fees from the Poster.
PS. If you are going to feed the kids Haggis, don’t tell them what it is. It could get messy especially after they eat it : )
