2008 TUCSON FIREFIGHTERS CHILI COOK-OFF

2008 Tucson Firefighters Chili Cookoff
I don’t remember what happened that I couldn’t attend this event last year. This year, I’ve got it on the calendar and so far nothing is scheduled that would keep me from making my way to the cook-off and some really good eating. There is a slight nip in the air (by Tucson standards) which is just perfect for eating chili.
Eating chili is a mixed bag for me. I am allergic to tomato sauce. Even ketchup can make me break out into a sweat looking like I just climbed out of the shower. I can’t eat very spicy foods. If I do my mouth gets so hot I can’t taste a thing and I hate not being able to taste food.
But I have heard there is chili for everyone at this event. From the 5 alarm to those like myself. If you want spicy they have spicy. If you feel like you can’t handle spicy that’s okay too. They have all varieties of chili and a host of fire fighters to put you out if you eat some that is too hot for your taste.
The day goes on for 12 hours so there is plenty of time to eat chili several times while you are there. Bring your camera or camcorder and enjoy the day and evening.
Last years event raised $52,000 for Tucson families in need. We all know there are even more families in need this November. So lets make this the best year ever for the Tucson Firefighters Chili Cook-off.
Here are the specifics of the schedule in a nutshell or should I say in a chili bowl.
