Tucson Home Makers

suzi home makerRemember some of those nastalgic terms we used to hear:

  • A stay at home mom
  • Suzi homemaker
  • Ozzie and Harriet
  • Leave it to Beaver
  • Father Knows Best

I had to sneak that last one in just because it is one of the first TV shows I remember as a child when I was growing up. As an aside I still remember the first show I ever saw on television. Dad was up on the roof moving the antenna by hand when the picture came on the screen and there was a cowboy riding fast Hopalong Cassidy . What a cultural shift we have all witnessed in the past 4 decades. Cowboys were allowed to be old and still be the hero. Moms could stay at home and make the house a home an still be the hero.

Father Knows Best TV ShowA lot of things have changed since the days of Father Knows Best and the rest. But one thing still hasn’t changed. There are a lot of wonderful homemakers out there turning Tucson Real Estate (houses) into homes. Raising families and making lifetime memories for their children and themselves.

Families today don’t look like the family to the left. We dress better now : ) The sage of the family is not a single persons hat to wear, nor should it be.

Being a home maker is more a state of mind and an attitude about life than it is about a carrier (or lack of one) and a lifestyle.

Being a homemaker is taking a house as a place to live, a roof to sleep under, a place to store our stuff. Being a home maker turns a house into a place of sanctuary a place with good sounds and smells, a place for family and the making of good memories.

Being a homemaker isn’t a matter of age or gender. It is an attitude. When we turn houses into homes we don’t view those houses as just a way to make money or save for retirement. We think of them as the basic brick and mortar (in some cases stucco) in which we can make a home.

So here is to being a homemaker. May their kind and tribe increase.
