Tucson Home of the First Freecycle.org Group
Changing the World One Gift at a Time
Did you know the very first Freecycle.org group started right here in Tucson? Have you ever heard of Freecycle.org? If you have free stuff to give away or “stuff” you need or know someone that has a need then you should check out Freecycle.org.

Here is a brief description from the Tucson Freecycle Group’s Yahoo page.
Description
Welcome to The Freecycle Network™! This is the Freecycle list for Tucson AZ-the FIRST ever Freecycle ™ Group. To join the Tucson list click the blue “Join This Group” button. Please include your major crossroads or Zip Code in the comment box to speed up membership approval! If you want to join a list outside Tucson (or to start a list for your city), visit: www.freecycle.org.
The Freecycle Network is open to all who want to recycle that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it’s a chair, fax machine, piano or old door, feel free to post it. Nonprofit groups are welcome! One constraint: everything must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages. More info and list guidelines are sent on membership approval.
- Do you want to help keep things from piling up in the Tucson landfills that someone might be able to use?
- Do you have stuff you want “away” as in “thrown away” but still might have some use other than filling up the landfill?
- Do you want to feel good about yourself because you can help someone with a need at the same time helping the environment?
Freecycle.org is an organization you should check out and join. It is a great organization and everyone should at least be aware of its existence so they can spread the word to those that can contribute and benefit from this fantastic Tucson organization.
The idea started here, but it certainly hasn’t ended here. If you are currently living somewhere else check and see if there is a Freecycle group where you live. If there isn’t find out from Freecycle.org what it takes to start one.
Why not be a part of something that is “Changing the world one gift at a time”?
