Today, well tonight anyway; it seems I don’t get to write these days until just a couple of hours before the day is done and a new one has started. I don’t know if all of you had a busy week this week, but I can say I met myself coming and going twice this week and only had time to smile and wave as I passed myself.
I think I got a lot done this week, but I’m not sure. At least at the moment my brain can’t think of anything significant. The week was filled with lots of small tasks that started on Monday with coating a roof as the Tucson monsoon season winds down. My passion for photography was sustained this week by trying to find interesting things in front and back yards as we were out previewing and showing home.
Oh now I remember, part of this week, two days, was spent going in and out of homes that were without air conditioning and the temperatures were above 110 inside with no air moving. No wonder I’m having a hard time remember this week, I’ve mentally blocked out much of it, survival instinct I guess.
I managed to squeeze in time to write here an on the other three blogs, that was good, and then yesterday, Friday September 14th came.
This is what I’m curious about, Friday September 14th 2007, Not Friday the 13th but Friday the 14th.
It was one of those days. Do you know what I mean about “Those Days” I can almost tell immediately even before seeing the morning light if it is “One of Those Days”. There are these little signs all throughout the day. Little signs, can’t find 2 matching socks, the newspaper has been run over in the driveway, for no reason the check engine light comes on when you back out of the garage, every stop light is a stop light red, red, red.
I’ll let you in on one more routine of my life. I go to McDonald’s for breakfast almost every morning. I’ve done it for over 30 years no matter where I live in the country. Some would say I’m a rut kind of guy, I personally don’t think so, just because I walk in the door and my order is waiting for me without having to say a word doesn’t mean I’m in a rut. Especially when that order might change on different days of the week, so there.
So what if the rest of the people in line look dumbfounded. But Friday September 14th. The parking lot was full, of course it was. I get inside and there is a line, a long line and this is the day I have to be somewhere. The person behind the counter is new and they don’t know me or my order. I place my usual order, but it is wrong when I get it. They are out of napkins and cream for the coffee, or course they are it is Friday September 14th. Phones didn’t work right, voicemail wouldn’t answer, traffic was incredible. On and on and on, we get to the Dr for a routine visit and the office is full of people. They are supposed to close at 5 pm but it is 6 pm before we get out of there.
I asked the head nurse “Has today been WIERD?” She said, “I’ll say double wierd” and you are about the fifth person to mention it.
Was Friday September 14th 2007 wierd for you? Just wondering. This morning. . . morning light came up over the Catalina’s the sun was bright, roads almost clear, the line at McDonald’s was long, but only after I got there : ) and the day while busy went pretty smooth.
The sunset tonight was spectacular. I didn’t get a picture, no energy, and I didn’t have my camera with me which gave me a good excuse.
Tomorrow, morning light, I wonder what it will bring. May your tomorrow be bright, the roads easy to navigate, the lines short and your day filled with memorable moments for the good things happening in your life.
