Tucson Moving Again

Unblocked Arteries let Traffic Flow

Traffic Moving Around Tucson Again

Traffic Moving Around Tucson Again

Interstate 10 through Tucson has been torn up and many of the intersections and underpasses have been closed or very difficult to navigate for the past few years.

We live in Oro Valley on the Northwest side of Tucson.   My Dad lives on the far east side of town.   Even so it used to take as little as 35 minutes to get to his place.   The past couple of years it has been an hour through town to get there.   Yes, it does cut down on the visits when there is 2 hrs. travel time involved.

But not anymore.   This week I was able to be there in about 35 minutes and it will be even faster when the work on La Canada is complete.   It won’t be long and the last few exits will be open.

There is a dedication today for the Cushing underpass being opened at I 10.   This past week we saw the 4th Ave. underpass dedicated and traffic flowing between two major parts of town opened up for the first time in years.

No longer is it   a chore to get from the campus part of town to Congress street downtown. I shot this image while waiting for the light after coming up out of the 4th Ave. underpass.   (I wasn’t driving).   It was so fast.   This really is a huge boon for all of us, not just business.   It is good to see some things in Tucson moving again.

We won’t go into the cost comparisons.   Between the underpass at 4th Ave. costing $46 million and the entire I-10 project coming in at just over $200 million for all of it. I would hope the city would look to that contractor for future work, but . . .

Is this the segaway to real estate.   None needed.   It is nice to move around town and get from one side of Tucson to the other without having to pack a lunch.   Yes, in real estate we drive around town a lot.   Having these arteries open really helps the flow of traffic and life is good.
