Nothing like a recession to raise the social status of a word. Cheap in good times can be used in a derogatory manner. “She is so cheap she uses both sides of the tissue before throwing it away.” But when the economy turned down the capital for “Cheap” rose. It continues to rise and thrive as we push toward the middle of 2009.
Perfect timing to mention Tucson on the Cheap. They aren’t new. They have been providing good “Cheap” information for sometime on Tucson events, promotions and cheap things to do in Tucson.
You can follow them on Twitter and if you are using Tweetgrid I mentioned this week you will see them popping up with tweets about Tucson on the Cheap. Seems fitting to Tweet the Cheap.
I like the title, it is catchy, much better than “Tucson In-expensive”. May it’s capitol not decline when the economy turns around.

Hi, Dave,
Thank you so much for such a nice write-up of our site (tucsononthecheap.com). It IS funny that the word “cheap” has changed in people’s minds, isn’t it? I remember people telling me not to buy something because it was “cheap.” Now we search for bargains etc.
In any case, Donna and I thank you. May you sell many homes!

Kate,
We do our part LOL, love the Hortense P. Tightwad, what does the P stand for?
@Dave Smith –
Why, Dave, some people think it stands for “Penelope (as in “penny pincher.” But no! The “P” stands for penurious : >>>
1 : marked by or suffering from penury
2 : given to or marked by extreme stinting frugality
synonyms see stingy
