This is the view from the front of the Target store in Oro Valley. There is something majestic about the mountains that surround Tucson.
There was over 2 inches of snow on the ground in some parts of Tucson this morning. Here in Oro Valley there was plenty of the white stuff in the Mountains and up the road in Oracle, none here on the ground.
But snow is such an event here the schools were delayed for two hours so people could just look at the mountains, then when the sun started to come out they cancelled school all together.
Snow here even if it isn’t on the ground or the roads is like a Holy Day. I suppose I should use the modern term for it “holiday”. There were quite a few snowballs thrown today, I caught a couple, none thrown myself, I’ve done enough of that with a shovel to last a life time and pathetic snowmen appeared around town, mostly in the back of pickup trucks and some real elfs built them on the back of their cars and drove around till the snowmen themselves went for a slide.
Tucson is a diverse place to live. It is surrounded by all things with thorns, rivers without water and people that love life, sometimes more than a schedule. And that is a good thing.
