What Are You Passionate About

A Passion for Photography
Many of you that read this blog often (okay, both of you that read this blog often : ) know I’m passionate about photography. I love it more than I ever have before. The digital age allows me to do things I could only dream about in the past. Years ago I had my own darkroom, getting an image out of the camera and viewable was a multi-step process. The fastest and most economical was to shot slide film and process it in a drum. You didn’t even need a darkroom (A closet to load the tank was all that was necessary).
Today, it is a dream come true. And even if the cameras are more expensive the film is cheaper and the processing costs are minimal.
I put this passion to work for us daily here and on the other blogs I author. I have photo streams at Flickr and on JPGMag.com I have a camera on me almost all the time and wish I had more time to photograph just about everything. Photography and processing those images is a passion of mine.
A Story Teller’s Heart
But it isn’t the only thing I enjoy doing. Believe it or not I like to write. I’m a story teller at heart and images help me tell stories.
When I was a boy growing up in Ontario, Ohio I hated going to church. Yep, I’ll admit it. I had no idea what it had to do with life specifically my life. What did the life of Jeroboam and Rehoboam and all those boam boys have to do with me. I remember saying if I was ever in charge of “church” I would make it interesting and show how things would apply to my life.
Little did I know that years later as a Sr. Minister preaching every Sunday I would have that opportunity. I never forget what I had promised myself as a boy about making church interesting. I’m a story teller at heart.
Blogs are to Writers what Digital Cameras are to Photographers
Just as the digital age has made it easier to follow my passion for photography my passion for writing has been made much simpler by blogs.
Now anyone can start a blog. Short for Web Log which is an online way to publish your thoughts and discuss your passions. To write about what interests you and to exchange information with friends, family, and others who are passionate about the same things you are.
I author three real estate related blogs. This one, a blog about Oro Valley and a blog about blogging. It is called “The Real Estate Blog Lab” where I talk about setting up your own WordPress self hosted blog. It has a lot of information for anyone interested in hosting their own WordPress blog even if you are not involved in real estate. (If that last part made no sense to you keep reading)
I have another really off beat blog called “For No REal Reason” which is left over stuff that sometimes floats into my head and I want to write about (so I can get it out of my head) but it simply doesn’t go on this blog. It is not about real estate, thus the name For No RE (Real Estate) Reason. If you just want an off-beat and twisted way of looking at the world drop by there from time to time.
Starting your own blog is very easy and it doesn’t cost you anything to get started. You can get a Google blog at Blogger.com or the one I prefer is WordPress.com If you have no clue what I was saying above about “Self-hosted” blogs above then either of these is for you.
It only takes a matter of minutes to get your own WordPress blog and have it up and running. There are thousands of themes (designs) to chose from for your personal taste.
I started blogging because it was where I wanted to take our business model for communicating to the world about Tucson as a place to live and the Tucson real estate market. It wasn’t long till I discovered it was the perfect outlet for my twin passions of photography and writing (story telling).
Have you thought about sharing your thoughts and observations? Do you have something to contribute to your family or community? What are you passionate about?

Nice post. I know I can’t leave “nice Post” in the comment section of another agents blog but you know what I mean.

I am thinking of finally starting up another blog that will be more of a personal blog. I will be able to go with wordpress instead of moveable type which will be cool because I will finally feel more of a part of the normal blogosphere.
