There were some people that wondered if anyone in any kind of business would survive to the forth quarter of 2007. I heard a stockbroker describing the third quarter as a person being shot at repeatedly and never getting hit.
The Stock Market seems to have rebounded since the Federal Reserve reduced rate on September 18th.
The Mortgage Meltdown over Sub-prime and Alt-A loans has quieted (a little). The media continues to report mostly badly exaggerated news, (nothing new here) and the Tucson Real Estate Market just keeps chugging along.
September 2007 is now in the books and it will take a couple of weeks (unfortunately) before the Tucson MLS Statistics Report comes out. This is the months report I’ve been waiting to see for almost 6 months. If the stats for the YTD continue this will be the month where 2007 figures will be better than 2006 figures for the month. I’ll go into this in detail in the next day or two.
I’ll keep this short today, it has been a very busy weekend with little time to write. I have found a couple of interesting questions that landed on this site this week and will close with quick answers to those. At least as much an answer I can provide.
- What does TARMLS mean in real state ?
It might have a broader meaning in all of real estate but here in Tucson it means “Tucson Association of Realtors Multiple Listing Service” Since I’ve written twice in the last week about the Tucson MLS it is probably a good idea to spell out what it means. - expected percentage drop of home prices in arizona
Asking prices are coming down to the market, but overall sale prices are increasing for the year at approx 5% instead of the 28% and 32% from previous years, but sale prices holding value. There are exceptions in some locations and circumstances, but the sky is not falling by any means. The market is pretty close to the healthy numbers of 03 and 04.
Then there are the questions about life in Tucson. I’m wondering if I’ve scared some people with descriptions of life here from some of these questions.
- deadly catius
meaning deadly cactus. I don’t know of any deadly ones per say. There are suggestions to plant them around the windows to discourage unauthorized entry. - are arizona lizards dangerous
only the gila monsters and only then if you stick your hand in their mouth. DUH! - Deadly butterflies
I wasn’t sure about this one, we have over 250 varieties of butterflies that come to Tucson during the course of the year but none of them deadly. I don’t know if there are any deadly if you eat them. Don’t know why you would. - are lizard dropping dangerous and what do they look like
I don’t know what the droppings look like. They are not dangerous as far as I know or have heard. There are mouse droppings that are dangerous, but not lizard droppings.
I wish I had a picture of a lizard with butterfly wings using the restroom, but I don’t. : )
