Tucson AZ Real Estate VulturesI think vultures have gotten a bum wrap through out history at least modern history.

Vultures are usually portrayed as the bad guys. The bird that circles overhead when something or someone is about to die and swoops in and finishes them off.

Or they can be viewed as the heroes that leads the rescue party to where the injured are about to expire.

This all takes place as we anthropomophize these birds with western concepts of them as villains.

In ancient Egyptian culture the vulture was viewed as a family bird protecting and caring for their young.

From Wikipedia on Vultures:

“The decline in vultures has led to hygiene problems in India as carcasses of dead animals now tend to rot, or be eaten by rats or wild dogs, rather than be tidied up by vultures. Rabies among these other scavengers is a major health threat. India has the world’s highest incidence of rabies.”

What is it vultures really do.

  1. They eat dead things that could cause disease if left to rot.
  2. They clean up the landscape and remove offensive odors.
  3. They prepare the way for new life.
  4. They keep our roadways clean (Roadkill Warriors)

Vultures far from being the villains clean up the environment making way for healthy life and society to progress after there has been death from destruction.

There is no metaphor

That’s right, there is no metaphor. I’m not going to identify any persons or groups of persons as vultures to clean up the over abundant inventory in the Tucson Real Estate Market.

If I were to say who created this mess in the first place I would say,

  • Speculators not Investors
  • Buyers that could not afford to buy but did anyway
  • Sellers who want their “Wish Price”

How will it get cleaned up?

  • Investors coming back into the Tucson Market
  • First Time Home Buyers
  • Individuals & Families looking for a home not just an investment
  • Seller who will remove their “Wish Priced” homes out of the inventory
(These homes were never really for sale they were just on the market)
  • Attrition over time

Eventually the inventory will balance back out. For those of us that work in the Tucson Real Estate Market on a daily basis we know the numbers are high, but when we start looking for a clients specific needs often there aren’t that many homes to choose from; of course the more specific the narrower the selection.

In today’s world perception is more important than reality. It can be difficult getting an accurate assessment of the market based on the media presentation. Which is one reason we try and provide insight into the Tucson Real Estate Market. Some good news lately; the media has found other things to try and destroy write about.
