Google Blog Search

Let me tell you why you want to start using this great search tool today.

If you are reading this, you already are on a blog, this is a blog post.  It is different from a page on our web site.  It allows you to read and make comments about the post.  Webpages on our web site might have a form you can submit but each page is not inter-active.

For us, the big difference between our webpages and our blogposts is how quickly you can find them on the internet.  It doesn’t matter how great the webpage of information I have for you, if you can’t find it, it isn’t worth much.

When I create a new page on the website and make it “live” I submit that page as a part of a sitemap to google.  Until Google “indexes” that page you can’t search the information that is on the page.  It might take a couple of months for any new page to show up in the Google index.  And to complicate matters even more Google has many “data centers” where the index is stored and they are not all the same.  So on one data center my new page might be indexed, and on another it is not.  When you do a search, you never know which data center you are on for that search.

I give it at least three month from the time I put up a new page till I expect it to be indexed and available on all data centers.  Not a very quick way to get up to date information to anyone interested in Tucson Real Estate.

Enter the Blog.  I can create a blog post and “publish” the post, meaning it is live on the internet.  When I publish a post a “ping” is sent to many search engines telling them a new post has just gone live at Tucson Real Estate In the News.  Usually within 15 minutes I can do a search on this Google blog search engine, and it is there.

Try it.  Click right here on the Google Blog Search and search “Google Blog Search Tucson” I’m sure this post will be “Top of the Page”, “Number One”.  Just like that in minutes; not hours, days, or months.

When you want current information fast you should do a blog search as a part of your search.  You will get more up to date information.

Another good effect of a blog post.  In a couple of days it will show up on the regular search engines as well.  I usually see my blog post coming up in regular Google searches in two or three days, not two or three months like a new webpage.

This morning I created a new webpage for our web site.  It has a map with our listings on it and some bacic information about each listing and you can zoom in and see the listing on the map.  The page is “My Tucson Listings“.  I’m going to see how long it takes that new page to be indexed and searchable compared to this post on Google Blog Search.

I’ll be able to let you know when it happens by leaving a comment on this post.

Just like you, I can also comment on the post and answer questions you might have or repond to comments you might leave.

I have fallen in love with blogging.  Even if you aren’t interested in blogging yourself, you should be using blog searches along with your regular inquiries to the internet for information.  Google Blog Search is a great search tool.
