This was one of the headline reports last week in the Tucson Citizen and the Business Week site quoted below.
“New-home sales dropped by 19.3% in the Northeast, 27.6% in the Midwest, and 6.4% in the South. However, sales increased by 4% in the West. Over the last 12 months, new-home sales nationwide have tumbled by 34.4%, the biggest annual slide since early 1991, and stark evidence of the painful collapse of the once high-flying housing market.”
We see a swing from -27.6% in the Midwest to +4% in the West. A difference of 31.6% in the activity from these different areas of the country. In case anyone might still be confused about where Tucson is located. It isn’t in the East, South, or Midwest. And this is a good thing.
Remember it is only 20 degrees in St. Paul today so everyone in Tucson should have their winter coats and boots on. Oh, it is 70 here today? Tucson is in the West? When reading real estate articles it is like reading a weather report. It all depends on the location. Enjoy the warmth in the weather and the Tucson real estate market.
