If you were hanging around this blog this weekend you might have seen several different looks when you got here. Some of the time it was broken slightly, other times it was broken badly. One theme which was getting rave reviews for the way it looked, was extremely under cooked. By that I mean it looked pretty, but unless you only used very short titles and very short categories it was broken. All images had to be very small or it was broken. As a matter of fact if you added just about any kind of content and looked at it in either Firefox or IE 7 yep, it was broken.
I abandoned that attempt on Sunday and found another which I spent most of the day Sunday and Monday changing, removing, moving, adding etc. to get it to what you see now. If you are using IE 7 you are missing out on some nice formatting that only shows up in FireFox. But I’m not spending any more time making little changes. I like the look now and at least for the near future.
When I started Tucson Real Estate In The News I was new to blogging. I lucked out in that I had no idea what I was doing when I chose the theme from more than 1000 available. I’ve since discovered it was one of the best themes I could have chosen. The coding was easy for me as a newbie to follow and it handled images well and was optimized so the content could be easily found on the search engines.
One of the only issues, and it has to do with my personal style of blogging, was the limited post area for writing and displaying images and graphs. I didn’t know it at the time, but have since discovered, I like images in my posts. As I continued to add new blogs I made sure I had more room to enter text and images in the post area.
So it was time for a little updating. I’m not one for making changes just for the sake of change. However, I think this new theme will work out well. It has a larger writing area, larger right hand navigation area, a few things have changed location.
There is a new search option in the header and the picture in the header has given way to more of the top post showing on screen. Before you couldn’t navigate to earlier posts from the home page, now you can. Before I was limited to images no larger than 400 px wide, now I can go to 600 px.
There is a new feature for displaying images full screen installed as well. Not all images will enlarge but the one below does. If you click on the image it will open a large version of the image on the screen with a black background for easy viewing. Clicking anywhere on the black area will close this window. Go ahead try it out.
The content will not change. I’ll still be writing to explain what is going on in the Tucson Real Estate Market and how it is effected or not effected by the National Real Estate Market and media reports.
I hope you enjoy the new look and feel of this site. I hope it is easy on your eyes. Frankly, mine are getting older and they really love larger print : )
