The Winds of a Storm Bring Correction of Course

The Winds of a Storm Bring Correction of Course

The winds blow and the storm intensifies.  Some have prepared knowing a storm is always possible, other party through the night either unaware or uncaring.  The winds were gentle at first almost balmy bringing with it an intoxicating scent of sweet perfume and a good life.  The subtle changes were interpreted to be nothing more than a small calm or shifting of the winds.

What few realized was the ship itself was no longer on course.  The weather and conditions seemed perfect and the ship sailed on as if wishing something to be true could make it so.

But finally the ship so off course it headed into uncharted and very troubled waters.  But the change, the intensity of the storm seemed to finally awaken the passengers and crew to the danger.  The siren song of smooth sailing and ever increasing prosperity for all was drown out by the sound of the storm and now gail force winds.

The ship is strong, the storm is frightening, a good ship off course is still a ship off course.  A clarity comes in a storm, a clarity of surroundings not possible or not willingly noticeable during the balmy time is thrust up all on board.

The coarse is being corrected. A correction made more difficult because of the storm.

It is the nature of a storm to brew, sometimes for long periods of time.  Then they can intensify very rapidly and often die down when least expected.  It isn’t the length of the storm or the intensity of the storm which should be the focus.  It is the storm, riding it out is what we do, correcting the course should be the focus.

Once the ship is back on course and the storm abated it is time to keep the ship on course and steer around as many storms as possible when they do appear.

There have been other storms.  The ship is strong, but the intoxicating breezes still blow, still seeking to control, to take the easy way.  And if the easy way leads to destruction so be it.  There is always another ship, right?
