Helping Out The Neighborhood Real Estate Agents
I opened the front door on Saturday morning to be greeted with this little present left by one of the children in our neighborhood. It took me by surprise and true to my photographer/blogger nature I had to grab my camera and get a picture of it before it was disturbed from it place of origin on the welcome mat.
My First Impression
We give the best candy. I’m not saying that to brag. I’m saying that because it is what we hear year after year from the kids that come to our door. They look forward to coming to our house because it is always going to be chocolate. Since I’m a diabetic and no longer get to have a sweet tooth I insist on passing out my favorites. It is never hard candy. It is always chocolate. Maybe Milky Way or Snickers, Hersey bar or any of a variety of others I grew up loving and eating, and they don’t get just one, they get a handful.
We have also in the past had fun with the older kids (High schoolers) still enjoying those last days of youth and memories of treats collected over the years. In the past they have initially received for their efforts. Plastic baby doll parts, Large rocks and last year slices of bread were passed out. If they asked about what was just put in their bag they got one of the HUGE Hersey bars. If not, they got what they got. Our Bad.
This year is was just all candy, no gags, and some of the kids wanted to know if we were giving out bread again this year. (They do Remember)!
So I thought maybe one of the kids wanted to give back to the house that always gave them great treats.
My Second Thought
Then I wondered if any of these great kids might have heard all the reports in the media about what a rotten real estate market we have in Tucson and took pity on the poor real estate agents that lived at the end of the block and gave out great candy. Maybe they thought, given the current economy the only payday we would be getting would be in the form of their Pay Day bar.
The suddenness of this revelation by our young benefactor is the only thing I can think of for the unwrapped chocolate. They were about to eat it themselves when the epiphany of need suddenly struck them as they were about to bite down. Gently they lowered their hand and along with the two other items placed them gently and carefully at our door.
Knowing how stressed we must be our young benefactor didn’t even ring the doorbell not wanting to disturb our stress filled, fitful sleep.
Our appreciation goes out to this humanitarian. This gentle soul that bequests “Trick or Treat” upon our doorstep once a year while hiding their true identity. I do want to assure you. We are doing fine. The Tucson Real Estate Market has declined as have most other markets. We have done almost as much business in 2008 as we did in 2007. We are paying the bills and helping clients sell their homes and new buyers find a place to call home in Tucson. We are doing fine, honest, it isn’t as bad as the media would have you believe.
We thank all who are concerned about our well being and the availability of chocolate next Halloween. I assure you the chocolate will be plentiful. Franky will have his head filled for those that venture too our door again next year. And we won’t recycle any of these fond momentos left on our doorstep.
