A Trip to Boise Idaho

A long time ago in a galaxy . . . (ok forget that line) a long time ago I was in graduate school with a couple of guys and I know they moved to Boise, Idaho. My sister has friends she used to work with in Ohio that now lives in Boise, Idaho. The law firm Barbara used to work for in Denver has an office in Boise, Idaho. We have never been to Boise, Idaho; we don’t know much about it. But we both have said we would like to take a trip to Boise this fall. It will be nice to see what it is like and see a part of the country we have never been in before.
This got me to thinking about the process people go through when considering a move to a new location like Tucson. I decided to put on my objectivity hat and take a look at the process of finding out about some place you have never been before.
I started my search online with Google
- Local Information
- Chamber of Commerce
- Google Image search on Boise
- Weather
- Relocation packets
- Boise MLS
I learned a lot about Boise, I learned even more about trying to find information about Boise.
Some information is easy to find, some is old information. I found it hard to try and search for homes since there are so many communities surrounding Boise. I’m searching for real estate agents and web sites as well. I’ve found searching for homes is very different in different parts of the country. It is interesting to me that you can’t search on single story homes on any of the local or national web sites. I did find a couple that said “single story” but the picture was a two story house. It also appears not all the homes in an area are on line.
Looking at Homes Online
I’ve learned it is important to have the front of the house as the main picture. It might have a better kitchen or amazing great room, but I want to know what kind of roof it has, what kind of siding or stucco, brick work or stone is on the outside. I want to see if it is one or two stories or tri-level. I can find out most of this with a picture of the outside of the house.
This has been an eye opening experience and I’m doing more research on how and where to find this kind of information about Tucson.
I sent for two relocation packets of information and should have those arrive some time next week.
I’ll keep you up to date on what else we find out and on the results of your trip when it happens in October (hopefully).
