When I moved here nine years ago I came from Des Moines, Iowa.  DM always had meant Des Moines,  Partially because it is harder to spell than Tucson.  I won’t go into the many varied and creative spellings I’ve seen on the outside of packages and mail, all right here is one Demoins.

While on my road trip back to Ohio I visited my daughter and a lot of old friends from when I lived there for 18 years.  I also had the opportunity to take a few images of the Des Moines skyline and cityscape at night.  As well as one afternoon spent at the Des Moines Botanical Center with my daughter and grandchildren.

I lived there for 18 years and was only at the botanical center twice, both times to officiate at weddings which left no time to visit the center itself.  We spent almost two hours doing a group version of a “photo walk”.

I don’t really have any reason to post images of Des Moines, Iowa or the Des Moines Botanical Center.  So let me make up this excuse.  If you are traveling through Iowa and think it is all corn, barns, pigs and tractors, you might want to reassess that view.  These are just a few of the images my daughter Rachel and I took while in Des Moines.

Here is a link to Flickr Des Moines Botanical Slide show, much larger images.
