The other day I was talking with a friend about the differences in how we live in Tucson compared to other parts of the country. I stepped outside and snapped a quick picture of the street and sent it as an email. It was only a couple of minutes before the response came back. “I hate it when the garbage cans are in the front of the house. Why don’t they have them in the alley” I had to laugh as I responded “There are no alleys”. “What? how can there be no alleys?” There are no alleys and the garages are all in front of the homes, but that’s the subject of another post.
If you have never seen one of these trucks picking up garbage before it is fascinating to watch. You probably can’t see it but there are two steering wheels, one on each side of the truck.
Today was garbage day. There are two of those a week. Our pickup schedule is Tuesdays and Fridays each week. We wheel the cans to the street and they are to be back inside by 5 pm. (not visible from the street)
This conversation gave me the idea of recording what it looks like when the garbage truck comes rolling down the street. It must be the guy gene or the lego gene or the tinkertoy gene, I’m not sure which one it is but I love seeing this thing pickup garbage cans.
Coming up along side. Grab the can pick it up shake it empty. Set it back down and even shove it to the curb is necessary. I’ll confess, I’ve watched this video 6 or 7 times while getting it ready for this post. I think it is a guy thing.
