tucson golf courseI enjoy taking pictures. Sometimes I take pictures to go with blog posts, sometimes I write blog posts to go with a picture. The other day I was out taking a few golf course pictures around Oro Valley.

There are also times I want a picture that I just can’t get. Like a picture of a golf course covered in snow. That is hard to come up with here in Tucson. But it just so happens I have a friend that likes to take pictures for herself and her blog. Oh, did I mention she lives and works in St. Paul, Minnesota? She is a full time agent in St. Paul and a nationally known blogger. Teresa Boardman is the author of St Paul Real Estate Blog. It only took a couple of minutes on Instant Messenger to determine we had a good idea for a swap of pictures and blog posts.

We took our photos on the same day and it is easy to see that while there are a lot of interesting things to do in Minnesota in the winter golf isn’t one of them. So while I can play golf here in Tucson I can’t do some of the things I enjoy most.

I can’t go ice fishing, snowmobiling or cross country skiing. I can’t get great snow pictures or icicles hanging from the edge of the roof. And while I do have a couple of telephoto lenses for my camera I can’t get a good picture of the Mississippi River or the Great Lakes from here. I used to live in Onalaska, Wisconsin and often found myself in Minnesota. It is a great state with a lot to offer.

I’ll show you what ice fishing is like here in Tucson in a couple of days, I’ve got some pictures to share on the topic. : )
St. Paul golf course

St. Paul Minnesota is a great place to play golf in the summer and I hear you can go fishing too. I’ve seen great pictures of the Mississippi River (with water in it). And some amazing architecture in St. Paul. It is often mentioned by Garrison Keillor each week on “A Prairie Home Companion” which I listen to almost every week.

If you live in Minnesota and spend the winters in Tucson you should read Teresa’s blog. It is filled with information about what is going on back home.

I don’t live in Minnesota and I read it everyday. I like her pictures and she has the same kind of bent sense of humor I do, only I think she is bent a little more than I am (just a personal observation). But maybe she is just twisted. She takes some amazing picture of architecture which really interest the photographer in me.

If you can’t stand the heat in Tucson in the summer and there are a lot of people that can’t, then you should visit Minnesota. Start reading Teresa’s blog on life in St. Paul and check out St Paul this summer. I’m sure if you decided you wanted to be a “Summerbird” in Minnesota Teresa would be glad to help you find a place to hang your fishing gear and golf clubs.

    Dave-

Here’s a link from a photo I took during a helocopter flight last January of Troon North with snow on it. Not a GREAT photo, but if you find it useful, it’s yours to use:

I saw a report showing the change in population change by state last year. Guess what Minnesota lost about 2% and Arizona gained about 2%. Do you have any idea why?

    Jim,

My best guess, Gravity, they are being pulled out of the North to the Southwest, which makes sense when you take into consideration the spin of the earth from east to west. : )

They used to say that anything loose in the east rolled into California. I once said that to a girl in a bar. But she took it the wrong way.

Now you are cracking me up : )
