It Doesn’t Look Like Tucson

One of the most interesting things I find about Tucson is the variety of neighborhoods and architecture. Sometimes I turn a corner and I find a whole series of homes or buildings that look like they were plucked right off a street from some other part of the country.
Take this building for instance. It is just off Wilmont and Speedway. When I turn into the drive and head back to the parking lot I feel like I’ve just been transported to somewhere in the deep south. There are tall sycamore trees and grass, REAL GRASS, not fake stuff. There is the feel of New Orleans (I have to admit I’ve never been to New Orleans, but it is what I imagine it might look like) A tile roof, red brick pavers, wrought iron, and a courtyard.
This is where I come to see my audiologist. I love this building and often come a few minutes early just to walk on the grass and look up at the huge sycamore trees. There are always flowers at the entry no matter the season.
Walking through the archway to the courtyard you can hear the echo of your shoes off the brick pavers and walls, then you break out into the open air courtyard.
It is a fun place to visit and pause for a few minutes.
One nice thing about going to an audiologist. There are not shots, no drills, no blood drawn, just the sound of silence as my hearing aids are being checked and tuned up. : )
