This weekend I added a beta test toolbar to the bottom of the blog. It has a pop-up welcome which can be customized with a message and link to something I want any reader to be aware. It only pops up if it is new or a reader hasn’t seen it before.
There are other features on the toolbar.
the Wibiya Toolbar
Translate
I don’t know how well this feature works but there are 20 languages from which to chose. Pick one and the blog is rendered in that language. How good that translation is . . . ? You the reader would have to let me know.
Facebook Integration
I’ve recently created a Facebook business page for the site. I’ll be adding more to that set of pages in the coming days. You can become a Facebook fan or community member from the toolbar.
Twitter Integration
I don’t know how many of you reading this blog are also on Twitter, but if you want to share information from a post on twitter you can do so easily from this toolbar. Click on “Twitter” at the bottom and the post URL is shortened and ready for your to add your “tweet”. If you want to follow my tweets of insight and twisdom on twitter you can chose to follow me right from this window.

Another way to share information on a variety of service you for spreading the word about something you found while reading here and might want to share with others.
Search This Site
You came here but the page you landed on doesn’t look like what you were searching for. The search box at the top will search the site for the phrase you enter, or you can enter the search phrase on the toolbar search. When you hit enter a window will open with search results in a window. If you want to search the web instead of the site, click on the little icon to the right of the search box and select “web search” You can now search the web for more information right from the toolbox
Recent Posts & Random Post
Recent posts provides a list with thumbnails of the last 10 posts on the site. Quick way to use the not so way back look at what was written about in the recent past. Random Post? This one I’m mystified about why you would want to randomly read something I’ve written is beyond me. I’m not that interesting that you would want to randomly spin the wheel on the way back machine and see what I’ve said in the past. But it is in the toolbar if you want to take it for a spin.
The Photo Gallery
I think that X you see is supposed to be a butterfly that is linked to a set of photos of my choosing from Flickr. Right now I have it pointed to Downtown Tucson images. Do you really like seeing photos of Tucson and “What Dave’s been pointing his camera at” ? If so, there will be a gallery of images behind the butterfly.
While not in order as they appear at the bottom that about covers the toolbar. Oh yes, if you want to subscribe to the blog in a feed reader you can do that as well. Either from the top of the page or on this toolbar.
Feedback on the Toolbar
I don’t ask for feedback often, but in this case I want to be sure this addition is a positive and not a hindrance. I added one not long ago that blocked the blog on certain browsers and it was gone in a couple of days, NEVER to return. Therefore I submit this new toolbar with lots of social media features for your approval.
Let me know what you think about the addition; good bad or indifferent. By the way, those tiny arrows at the far right, you can hide the toolbar if it seems annoying.
