Termite Time in Tucson

Monsoon and seem to go hand in hand. Termites like the wet, hot, weather. They become very active during the summer Monsoon Season. It is a good habit to inspect for the critters a couple of times a month during this active time of the year.
I checked with our exterminator yesterday and he said they will be active now till November when it gets colder and they slow their activity. They never go away, they just slow down when it is cooler and dryer.
Termites are one of the big reasons you want to have room between the bottom of your exterior walls and the ground. Termites can’t be exposed to sunlight, it is their kryptonite so they build tubes in which to safely travel. If you have the exterior walls touching the earth it makes it easier for termites to invade your home and impossible to diagnose from the outside.
If you have these tubes on your home, call your exterminator, catch them early and avoid termite issues with your home. I do a visual inspection every couple of months on our home. It is treated against termites but sometimes I think they wear hazmat suits.
