The Tax Man Cometh
April 15, 2008 is now less than a week away. There are still many, many people that haven’t filed their 2007 tax returns yet (that would be me included : ) and one thing on their minds this week rather than real estate is “Do I have to Pay?”
Most of us that wait till the last minute to file don’t know what our status is when it comes to do we pay or do we get a little something back.
Because of this selectively keeping the blinders on till we have to take them off we live this last week with myopic dedication to getting all the document gathered together in one place and trying to figure out how we are going to come up with the cash we have to send to the “United States Treasury”. I think they did this so we wouldn’t have to write “Internal Revenue Service” on those checks we hate to write.
It isn’t just real estate, it is everything that cost this week. People are looking to find money this week. Maybe a client they didn’t collect from yet. Maybe a check laying around (because you figured you might need the money come April 15th.
Caesar may have been warned “Beware of the ides of March” but for most Americans it is the Ides of April we fear. If you are trying to sell your Tucson home and there isn’t anyone coming to look at it this week, don’t panic. Traffic should pick up again once we get past the 15th of April. When people can once again focus and get on with their lives; at least until next year.
