Take Time To Reflect
Do you take time to reflect? One thing I notice more and more it the lack of time we all take to reflect on what is going on around us. We all tend to be more reactive these days. Sometimes I read the news and think I’m looking at a large school of fish all suddenly turning on a dime in a different direction and 99 percent of the school not knowing why they are turning. They look to the left and to the right and everything is in motion. We are going along but we have no idea where we are going or why.
In the past few weeks we have seen the stock market more like a rollercoaster than an investment vehile. In the past three years, right up till August 2007 buying and selling real estate was more like day trading than it was investing in a home for your family and your future.
Today a lot of us were going “Oh, no Monday again”, but not for the typical reason of the start of another work week. No, today is is wondering how much less our 401K and mutual funds are going to be worth at the end of the day.
This is one of those days when we can do ourselves a favor and take a little time to reflect. Here are some of the headlines which all seem to have a postive note to them. This in itself is a turnaround from what we have been reading and hearing in the media.
The Business Section Tucson Citizen
- Bush open to second stimulus
- Wall Street higher on hopes of credit recovery
- Bernanke gives nod to more government stimulus
- Leading indicators rise in September
- Billionaire Buffett declares he’s buying stocks now
Pretty good headlines for a Monday morning. Today, I’m going to wash and reseal the porch roof, as I mentioned in Saturday’s post. I’m going to take time to enjoy the cooler evening air It is going to be in the 90’s again this week, but, I’m up early walking and enjoying the low humidity and sunny skies.
Sometimes we need to take time to reflect, take a deep breath, and let our heart rate and tension level come back down to a tolerable level. If you have an outdoor patio with an umbrella, take time to reflect. We will get through this economic downturn, we always do.

Right now we are on a pace to equal or exceed last years number.
