Tucson It is Blog Action Day

Today is blog action day. Bloggers from all over the world are focusing their posts on the topic of poverty and hunger. I want to call our attention back to an organization I wrote about last September. If you have lemons, oranges, tangerines or grapefruit going to waste on your trees call the Fruit Harvesters and they will come gather the fruit and use it to feed those in need.

It is harvest time for many gardens around Tucson and later this fall and winter there will be a lot of lemons, limes, oranges, tangerine and grapefruit trees with fruit to be harvested. A lot of this fruit will simply fall to the ground and become something you have to pick up and throw away.

There are many fine organizations in Tucson working to stem poverty in our community. I know everyone is thinking about these difficult economic times. Take a moment today and give back to the community. Even if it is just a canned good, it can make a difference.
