Do you give a fig

Do you give a fig

Everyone and every paper is doing their 2008 in review this week.  I’m not big on that stuff, might do one yet, but that’s not what this post is about, at least not from my perspective.  I’m reading most of these look backs at the train wrecks of 2008 in retrospective.

In a way it is like reliving your gall bladder surgery in slow motion.  I’ve never had gall bladder surgery but I’ve known a few people that did.  In the old days it wasn’t a pretty sight.  Long incision etc.  Now it is three hole and you are out.

A lot of people I know were glad when 2007 was over and looked forward to 2008 with hope and expectations.  I wasn’t one of them.  Not that I don’t ever express hope or expectation, I have done so on a couple of occasions.  I prefer to take each day as it comes and make the most of the situation.

I did look forward to 2008 but not as a relief from 2007.  I look forward to 2009 in the same way.  I like gas being less than $1.50 a gallon.  I like the price of eggs and milk coming back to where I don’t have to go to the bank first.

I’m sure 2009 will have issues of its own.  I also know a lot of people are looking forward to the incoming new administration and I hope we all feel the same way about it when 2009 draws to a close.  But for now here, I hope is something to help you smile a little and maybe even chuckle as we get ready to leave 2008.

I believe humor is a gift from God for the healing of our spirits.  Finding the humor in 2008 is a must for there is a lot of healing needed.

“The Arizona Daily Star” Northwest insert section had a few of the best from the police scanner over the year.  Two of them are real estate related in a way.  Hope you get a smile out of them.

The Maid was Made

. . . A man told deputies the following: He is the real estate agent for the homeowner. He was going to show the house to another real estate agent but found the maid living there. The maid told him she came over the previous night and was cleaning the house.  The house was a mess, and a man came out of the bedroom. The maid told him the man was her boyfriend. The agent called the homeowner and was instructed to tell the maid to leave. According to the report the maid was gone before the deputies arrived.

Fantasizing About a New House

. . . A suspicious vehicle reported . . A resident told deputies the same car has been driven slowly past her house more than 50 times in the past six months. She have police the license-plate number. Police talked to the owner at his house. He admitted he frequently drives through the gated community because he fantasizes about living in an expensive home. He said he waits until another driver opens the gate and follows the driver into the community. He told police he drives slowly because he takes pictures of the houses. Police told him not to return to the community.

There were other interesting stories, like the time we found the couple in the shower together while replacing a furnace filter. . . but I won’t go into that one.

We hope the maid finds a home of her own in 2009 and the drive-by peeping Tom can put away his scrapbook and find a nice home, maybe in that gated community in 2009.

I am very much like you and takes the day as it comes but at times I do tend to become a bit negative about things that matter to me. Wish you a very happy and prosperous new year!
