What is the water heater capacity?

Tucson home buyers want to know

Water heaters aren't "pretty"

They are nothing to look at. Have you ever thought of a water heater as “pretty”. Most people want to know where it is or is it electric or gas. But that is often the extent of it.

This past week we met a car full of college girls looking to purchase a home with 4 bedrooms near the U of A.   They had cameras in hand and were looking around the place with attention to detail.   I was impressed.

Then we found this door to the basement.   Well it wasn’t really a basement.   It was a room 6 feet wide and about 10 feet long under the house.   The main thing down there was the water heater.

I headed down the stairs and the “leader of the group” followed me down.   I was impressed, most “girls” don’t want anything to do with a dark narrow basement.

She checked out the water heater and asked “What’s the capacity?”   It was dark and cramped and I couldn’t really read the labels.   Point and shoot to the rescue.   I took a few snaps and we went back up the stairs.   Did I mention the stairs were about 2 feet wide?

Forty Gallons Four Girls = One Cold Shower, at least.

Once back in upstairs I zoomed in on the photos and found the label with capacity stamped on it.   “Forty Gallons”, I said.   She paused and thought “We will have to replace that”

LOL, The idea of 4 college girls getting along on a 40 gallon water heater made her think.   The last one to the bathroom wouldn’t have any hot water.

Again, I was impressed that she thought to check out the water heater capacity.   It seems college girls think about things like cold showers and running out of hot water.

I was impressed.
